Rivian Internships 2027: Programs, Pay and How to Apply

Rivian runs a 12-week summer internship program alongside two longer engineering co-ops, and the 2027 cycle is already live. ApplyBolt's board currently lists real Summer 2027 postings, including software engineering roles built with Volkswagen Group Technologies, one of Rivian's technology partners.

That's a bigger deal than it sounds. A lot of automakers post student roles in a single batch late in the cycle, which leaves applicants guessing for months. Rivian's postings are open now, with a published application window, so there's no need to wait for a mystery date.

What Rivian actually does

Rivian builds electric trucks, SUVs and commercial delivery vans, best known for the R1T pickup and R1S SUV. It designs most of its own software stack, from the vehicle's infotainment system down to driver-assistance features, which is why software roles make up a large share of its intern class. Some current postings are joint roles with Volkswagen Group Technologies, reflecting a partnership the two companies have built around software platforms.

Rivian hasn't published a specific hourly rate for interns. Its careers site describes the program as offering competitive pay, health and wellness coverage, travel and housing assistance and paid time off, on top of professional development workshops during the summer. The exact number depends on role, level and location, so the actual figure will show up once you're through the process rather than on the general careers page.

How to apply

Eligibility requires being enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program during the internship term, with valid work authorization for the country you're applying in. Apply through Rivian's careers site during the September to October window, and keep your resume focused on relevant coursework and projects rather than padding it with unrelated activities.
