This position is 100% virtual and can be performed anywhere within the continental United States. This could change due to business conditions. Occasional travel may be required. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Software Safety team, dedicated to keeping complex systems safe to manufacture, test, and operate. You will define and evaluate safety requirements, ensure implementation of critical safety features, and communicate with colleagues, customers, users, and other stakeholders. ## Roles and Responsibilities - Interact with key internal and external customers and partners regarding system safety topics. - Work with a team of Software Safety and System Safety engineers in defining, implementing, and verifying System Safety requirements to ensure that inherent risks are mitigated. - Understand the entire mission, including the launch vehicle, payload, ground support equipment, range infrastructure, and range safety interfaces. - Understand how components, subsystems, systems, and the integrated launch vehicle function and interact, with a focus on Software System Safety. - Apply the systems engineering process to define and verify launch vehicle and ground support equipment requirements, and conduct system safety analyses to architect and implement a safe and robust system. - Interface with customer safety and support working groups as requested. - Support launch vehicle design and development to ensure customer and internal goals for safety, mission success, and performance are met. - Analyze Integration and Test processes to demonstrate customer and internal requirements are met for safety and mission success. - Conduct system-level analysis of next-generation mission concepts and designs to maximize mission success while complying with customer, government, and internal flight safety requirements. - Describe, analyze, and explain launch vehicle designs to external customers, including how applicable software safety requirements for design, build, and test are met. - Review software associated with support equipment and facilities, functional specifications, and operations; establish safety requirements for assigned systems; and independently analyze and recommend safety criteria in system design, equipment, and procedures to control or eliminate hazards. - Develop safety documents as required to support customer and test/operational range requirements. ## Basic Qualifications - Be completing or have completed a degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) from an accredited institution. - Be majoring in or have majored in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field. - Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite. - Be able to obtain Special Access Program access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs. ## Preferred Qualifications - Overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher. ## Pay Range $33.32–$49.95 per hour. The primary level salary range is $33.32–$49.59 per hour. Base salary offers may vary based on position scope and responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
