Federated Hermes' Summer Internship Program gives students real hands-on experience, professional skill-building, and direct access to talented leaders across the firm. You'll gain valuable insight into the asset management industry, build your network, and take part in engaging events throughout the summer designed to foster collaboration, connect you with the firm and your fellow interns.

 

Purpose of the Internship:

The Application Developer Intern uses a variety of programming languages and tools to develop and maintain one or more of the following: Configuration of commercial business systems, web applications and portals, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), data intensive systems, reporting and analytics, integration and messaging systems, Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) and batch processing.

 

Major Duties:

  • Participate in and learn the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process.
  • Assist with planning and creating detailed development specifications.
  • Assist with programming, testing and documentation with application changes.
  • Assist with promoting code through environments that include Development, Stage and Production.
  • Participate in projects and/or team meetings.
  • Participate in a firm-wide intern “Hack-a-thon”.

 

Hours/Location:

  • Full-time summer schedule working 37.5 hours/week
  • Opportunities available in our Warrendale, PA 15086 location (Hybrid work arrangement: 4 days in office / 1 day remote)

Position Specifications:

  • Pursuing a degree with a concentration in Computer Science or comparable applications development-oriented degree required
  • Course work and hands-on programming experience is required in one of the following technical areas:
    • Microsoft .Net framework (C#, VB.Net or ASP.Net);
    • Database systems including MySQL, MS-Access, Oracle and /or SQL Server;
    • HTML/Javascript/CSS/Java
  • Completed coursework in structured and object-oriented programming and systems analysis; including, exposure to GUI development and web development preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office products required
  • Experience with AI tools preferred
  • 3.2 or better GPA preferred
