About this role
Kinder Morgan is an energy infrastructure company operating in North America. The 2027 BOLT Accounting Intern will support the Corporate Controller Group through hands-on work preparing Federal Energy Regulatory Commission financial reports, assisting with quarterly reporting, performing reconciliations, researching accounting matters, and supporting process improvements across multiple accounting functions.
What you'll do:
- The intern will work closely with Kinder Morgan professionals, specifically focused on the preparation of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Form No. 2 and 3-Q financial statement reports: through on the job training and hands-on assignments including, but not limited to, coordination of FERC Form 3-Q reports, process improvements, ad hoc reconciliations and preparation of supporting documentation, research and review
- The intern will have the opportunity to work with two or more functional areas of Kinder Morgan: Standalone and Segment Accounting, Accounting Policies and Procedures
- Assist in quarterly reporting process
- Assist in preparation of quarterly standalone FERC Form No. 2 and 3-Q, and SEC segment Statement of Cash Flow
What they're looking for:
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Entering either sophomore, junior or senior year of college
- Senior students must be graduating in December 2027 or later to be eligible
- Proficient in MS Office applications including Excel, MS Word, & Outlook
- Ability to learn, work independently, and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to deadlines
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills: listens intently; writes and speaks clearly
- Takes initiative, highly adaptive, pays attention to detail, and works efficiently
- Work location will be in Colorado Springs, CO
- Limited travel will be required for the program's 3-day orientation in Houston, TX
