2027 Cyber Security Intern

Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation is seeking a Cyber Security Intern to assist its Information Security team in protecting organizational systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. The intern will gain hands-on experience in security monitoring, vulnerability assessment, incident response, security policy development, and maintenance of security tools.

What you'll do:

• Assist in monitoring network traffic for suspicious activity and potential threats
• Support the Cyber Security team in conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
• Participate in the development and implementation of cyber security policies and procedures
• Help in the research and analysis of emerging cyber threats and security trends
• Contribute to the preparation of reports and documentation regarding security incidents and responses
• Aid in the maintenance of security tools and platforms
• Collaborate with IT staff to ensure proper security configurations and controls are in place

What they're looking for:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Currently pursuing a degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• Familiarity with network protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems
• Basic understanding of cyber security principles and practices
• Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and common security tools
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or at any time in the future
