2027 - Cybersecurity Engineering Intern - Sophomore, Junior, Senior *

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), Mission Technologies, supports cybersecurity and mission technology solutions for intelligence, defense, and cyber operations. The company is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineering Intern to support cyber test and evaluation, reverse engineering, software and firmware analysis, vulnerability identification, automation development, and prototype experimentation under the guidance of senior engineers.

What you'll do:

• As a Cybersecurity Engineering Intern, you will assist with the reverse engineering of software, firmware, and hardware systems under the guidance of senior engineers, while supporting cyber testing and experimentation on both operational and prototype platforms in a lab environment. You’ll contribute to the identification and reporting of cyber risks and vulnerabilities in embedded, networked, and RF-connected systems. In addition, you will have opportunities to develop automation tools and analysis scripts (e.g., Python, Bash), participate in technical discussions, document findings, and work collaboratively with engineers and mentors to advance the team’s mission

What they're looking for:

• • Working towards degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
• • Strong interest in cybersecurity, software analysis, and/or embedded systems
• • Familiarity with basic programming (e.g., Python, C, or C++) and command-line interfaces (Linux/Unix)
• • Interest in assembling/disassembling hardware or software systems for analysis and experimentation
• • Willingness to work in a secure environment and follow established security procedures (e.g., restricted use of electronic devices, compliance with physical and cyber security protocols)
• • Must be a U.S. Citizen
• • CLEARANCE : Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance with enhanced security checks
• •Engineering Intern 2 • : High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with between 20% and 40% of the required credits completed
• •Engineering Intern 3 • : High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with between 40% and 60% of the required credits completed
• •Engineering Intern 4 • : High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with more than 60% of the required credits completed
• Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment
• • Exposure to reverse engineering tools and techniques, including Ghidra, IDA Pro, or Binary Ninja
