2027 Future Talent Program - Medical Data Scientist - Intern

Merck is offering a summer internship through its Future Talent Program within the Research Labs Division and Healthcare Analytics Center of Excellence. The Medical Data Scientist Intern will support oncology-focused healthcare analytics by preparing real-world data, conducting statistical and machine learning analyses, and communicating findings to stakeholders.

What you'll do:

• Review literature and resources to build your knowledge of oncology
• Learn methodologies for analyzing real-world data (e.g., medical claims datasets, electronic health records)
• Prepare and process data for analysis
• Use analytic tools (Python, R, SAS, SQL) to conduct statistical and machine learning analyses and uncover insights
• Share your findings with the team and key stakeholders across Medical Affairs

What they're looking for:

• * Currently enrolled with at least 2 years of undergraduate study completed
• * Foundational knowledge of statistics and data analysis
• * Working proficiency in at least one analytic programming language (Python, R, or SAS)
• * Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
• * Comfort communicating findings clearly
• * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Candidates located in Pennsylvania or New Jersey are preferred
