About this role
New York Life Investment Management provides internship opportunities offering hands-on experience in the asset management industry, professional development, networking, and mentorship. The Investment Research & Analysis Intern will support investment teams through portfolio research, financial and market analysis, reporting, and projects related to portfolio management, deal analysis, market research, and credit evaluation.
What you'll do:
- Support research analysts and portfolio managers in the active management of investment portfolios through exposure to daily trading activity in special projects and reporting
- Conduct financial analysis, including financial modeling and scenario analysis; surveil existing bond portfolio positions and prepare credit research updates using financial modeling, scenario analysis, and relevant databases
- Provide market data analytics support through data collection, and the preparation of special market reports, dashboards, and presentations
- Contribute to a variety of projects that may include portfolio management, new deal analysis, market research, and credit evaluation
- Work alongside investment professionals, develop analytical and technical skills, and gain insight into the decision-making processes that guide institutional investing

- To be eligible for this program, you must be authorized to work in the U.S
- Likewise, this program is not available to those authorized to work under optional practical training (OPT) or curricular practical training (CPT)
- 1. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, and/or Computer Science
- 2. Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with knowledge of financial markets, capable of undertaking interpretive analysis of new concepts
- 3. High proficiency in Excel/VBA, financial modeling, and Bloomberg and other data visualization tools
- 4. An understanding of core computer science and programming concepts, including data structures and algorithms, as well as knowledge of a programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C++, etc.)
- 5. Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, communication, and writing skills; detail-oriented with the ability to effectively multi-task
