2027 Software Engineering Summer Intern

## Summary The Software Engineering Intern will join the Technology team at GCM Grosvenor, a growing alternative investments firm where technology is central to enabling data-driven decision-making. Our engineers drive innovation by building and extending platforms that support investment decisions, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the employee experience. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers on product-oriented teams, contributing to the development of applications and solutions used across the firm. This role offers hands-on experience with modern engineering practices in a real-world environment. This 10-week summer internship is based in our Chicago office and follows a hybrid schedule, with in-office attendance required Tuesday through Thursday. ## Responsibilities - Join one of our product-oriented software engineering teams for the summer and work closely with team members and leaders on engineering projects. - Create an approach, then design and execute project deliverables. - Participate in all team Agile ceremonies. - Leverage hands-on technology experience and practical approaches to solve real-world business problems. Create solutions the team will use beyond the internship period. - Conclude the summer with an intern presentation showcasing what you created and learned throughout the internship program. ## Education, Skills and Experience Requirements You should apply if you meet most of the following: - Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (graduation date: December 2028–Spring 2029). - Minimum GPA of 3.5. - Comfortable with object-oriented programming (C#, Python, C++, or Java). - Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases. - Exposure to web development (HTML, JavaScript, APIs, etc.). - Familiar with Agile development, cloud technologies, and the software development lifecycle. - Curiosity about AI and willingness to use AI-enabled tools, such as Claude and ChatGPT, to improve productivity, problem-solving, and day-to-day workflows.You’ll stand out if you also have: - Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, etc.). - Experience with modern frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc.). - Familiarity with automated testing tools (JUnit, Selenium, etc.). ## At a Glance - GCM’s Software Engineering Organization - A modern software engineering group embedded inside of a financial services firm. - Teams follow a contemporary approach to software engineering focusing on test-driven development, pair programming, continuous integration, distributed systems, and related best practices. - Teams are empowered to deliver product requirements through cross-functional team ownership. - A strong team culture inside and outside the office. - Adaptive to change and feedback from team members. ## Culture We are not afraid to think differently. Actual base salary may vary based on factors such as an individual's experience, skills, and qualifications for the role.
