About this role
MKS Instruments is seeking an Electrical Engineer Co-op to join its Valves Group. The role supports the development, debugging, testing, and evaluation of analog and digital embedded electronics used to control vacuum valves, while contributing to project reviews, customer failure analysis, and corrective actions.
What you'll do:
- Participate in design and development of analog and digital electronic hardware used to control vacuum valves
- Assist with design, debugging and board bring-up of analog and digital real-time embedded electronics for microprocessor-based control and communication hardware platform using combination of simulation, analysis, prototyping and testing
- Participate in project activities, including DFMEA, design reviews, and creation of technical specifications
- Perform FAs for customers, make a corrective action plan to mitigate design issues and/or work with vendors to resolve component quality issues
- Evaluate the design to meet requirements factoring in performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability
- Communicate technical information effectively in both oral and written form

- • Enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or relevant majors
- • Solid fundamental knowledge and skills in electrical engineering
- • Able to read and understand electrical schematics
- • Proficient with multi-meter, oscilloscope, and other equipment for embedded systems development
- • Good communication skills and a “hands on” approach to problem solving
- • Ability to work with minimum supervision with strong sense of ownership and desire for excellence
- • Solid fundamental knowledge and skills in electrical engineering
- Physical Demand: Able to perform extensive standing, walking, climbing, and lifting
