About this role
Genentech develops, delivers, and supports production methods, technologies, and analytical methods for cell and gene therapeutics. This six-month, full-time internship supports the development of cell and gene therapeutics through wet-lab experimentation, collaboration with scientists, and participation in business-critical projects and professional development activities.
What you'll do:

- Interns with a laboratory focus will work alongside scientists to design, execute, and analyze wet-lab experiments in support of the diverse development activities needed to produce therapeutics at scale for patients
- Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects
- Exposure to talented and innovative scientists and engineers, including a final presentation to leaders and subject matter experts
- Lead or participate in intern committees to design and coordinate program events and initiatives
- Professional & personal development curriculum throughout the program, including networking opportunities, workshops, and panel discussions
- Participate in volunteer projects, social events, and team-building activities
What they're looking for:
- Must be pursuing or have attained an Associate's Degree
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student)
- Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program)
- Must be pursuing a Master's degree (enrolled student)
- Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biophysics, or related disciplines
- Candidates applying for the PTC Intern Program should be passionate about science/engineering and thoroughly enjoy the challenges associated with complex problem-solving
- Candidates must be highly self-motivated and able to work effectively as individuals and as part of multi-disciplinary teams in an atmosphere of casual intensity to develop medicines for unmet medical needs
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to show a high degree of adaptive capacity
- College or higher level education in science and engineering courses is desirable
- Relevant work experience in research labs or the biotechnology industry is desirable
- Detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and self-directed individual who is excited about tackling complex and creative scientific challenges in an industrial setting
