2027 Summer Internship Program – Systematic Trading, New York

Brevan Howard is a macro hedge fund seeking interns for its 2027 Summer Internship Program in Systematic Trading. Interns will apply quantitative and machine learning skills to build data pipelines, models, trading signals, analytics, and AI-powered tools while supporting portfolio management, research, trading, and risk management activities.

What you'll do:

• Build pipelines to extract and analyze data, develop models and trading signals, and support decision-making of Portfolio Managers
• Integrate AI into analytical systems as well as building new AI-powered tools using the latest LLMs and agent workflows
• Contribute to our core analytics library, which is leveraged by Quants and PMs across the firm for research, trading and risk management
• Our Internship Program starts with one-week in-depth training to prepare interns for the desk. This covers a range of topics relating to Financial Markets including Macroeconomics, FX, Digital Assets, Interest Rate Derivatives, Equity Rates, Bonds, Credit and Fixed Income, Trading Strategies, Risk Management, Excel and Python, and the latest AI tools and LLMs
• During the program, working in a fast-paced environment, Interns will contribute to their Portfolio Management teams on various projects that can include trading strategies, trading signals, back testing, developing market related models, and develop research for trade ideas
• Additionally, interns will benefit from key talks, a mentor program, social events and interactions with some of the most respected and talented individuals in their field
• This internship is devised to provide candidates with an invaluable education on the workings of a macro hedge fund and the regulatory environment through a two-way process to determine if Brevan Howard and the intern are a compatible fit
• The goal of our summer internship program is to convert top performing interns to our 2028 Graduate Program!

What they're looking for:

• A Ph.D. candidate or 1st year master's student at a recognized University — completed and awarded before July 2028
• Strong mathematical, quantitative, problem-solving capabilities, and technical skills in Excel, VBA, and R
• Programming experience in Python
• An interest and passion for financial markets, trading, and financial products
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• An entrepreneurial spirit
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
