LidsU extends that expertise into campus and university retail, pairing enterprise retail capabilities with locally relevant assortments, service, and community engagement.

This position supports The COOP retail experience serving the Harvard and MIT communities, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, members, visitors, and fans. Team members are expected to respect The COOP’s heritage and brand while helping create a consistent, modern, and locally relevant experience across its Harvard and MIT stores.

Position Summary

Provide daily floor and operational leadership, with emphasis on transaction accuracy, cash office routines, inventory support, service, task execution, and Manager-on-Duty coverage. Specific focus areas may vary by store.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Daily Leadership

  • Open or close the store and act as Manager-on-Duty when assigned.
  • Direct work, support breaks and coverage, monitor service levels, and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Coach associates on customer service, transactions, product knowledge, and store procedures.

Operational Controls

  • Support cash office, deposits, tender reconciliation, invoices, merchandise payable processes, shipping, receiving, and records as assigned.
  • Help ensure accurate application of The COOP membership benefits and any Harvard-, MIT-, or store-specific tenders, discounts, and transaction requirements.
  • Support inventory counts, discrepancy research, loss prevention, safety, technology, and facilities routines.

Customer & Store Support

  • Maintain a visible floor presence and help customers across product categories and services.
  • Support merchandising, replenishment, housekeeping, campus events, and peak-period execution.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all departments to provide flexible coverage.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years of retail, operations, cash office, inventory, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Previous keyholder, lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong accuracy, judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfort handling multiple tender types and retail systems.
  • Flexible availability, including opening, closing, weekend, holiday, and peak-period shifts.

Physical Demands and Requirements

  • Ability to remain standing and move throughout the store for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently communicate with customers, team members, and business partners.
  • Ability to operate point-of-sale, inventory, and other retail technology systems.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move merchandise and supplies up to 50 pounds and use ladders safely.
