Position Summary
Summary:
The Central Sterile Technician I decontaminates, reprocesses, and sterilizes surgical instrumentation and collects, cleans, and distributes patient care equipment throughout the organization.
Qualifications
Responsibilities:
Education Required
• Must complete in-house orientation program
• Minimum High School diploma
Experience And Skills
• Speaks, reads and writes English
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and basic medical/surgical supplies.
• Knowledge of sterilization and decontamination procedures.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Prior experience as an OR/Central Sterile/ Surgical Technician and/or SD Technician preferred.
License/Certifications
• Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST)*, or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
• Certification in central sterile processing required
• Provisional Certification: 400 hours of on the job training must be completed within 4 months of hire

• Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 lbs of force occasionally and /or up to 30 lbs of force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
• Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking.
• Pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and feeling.
• Visual Acuity Requirements: Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and assembly of parts at distances close to the eyes.
• Worker is subject to environmental conditions, including temperature changes.
• Worker is subject to hazards, such as exposure to high heat and chemicals.
