About this role
The Intraoperative Neurophysiology (IONP) program in the School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor. This is a 12-month academic appointment with a preferred start date of August 2027. This position is 75% teaching and 25% service/scholarship with a typical teaching load of three (3) courses per fall and winter terms and two (2) courses during the spring/summer term. We are seeking a colleague with exceptional experience in the field of intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM). The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong dedication to the field, evidenced by educating others, service to the field (regional and/or national), and a minimum of 5 years of active intraoperative work in the operating room (not solely remote professional oversight). Experience in mentoring learners and nurturing their clinical skills through effective and innovative pedagogy is also desirable.
Duties and responsibilities for this position will include teaching assignments in the School of Kinesiology’s new master’s degree program in Intraoperative Neurophysiology (IONP). The initial course assignments will include several core pre-clinical intraoperative neurophysiology courses and/or labs, as well as overseeing a portion of students’ clinical experiences. Service and scholarship duties include serving on the IONP graduate admissions committee, supervision of lab instructors who teach hands-on laboratory sections in our surgical neurophysiology lab, and mentoring/advising IONP students. Engagement in professional scholarship and participation in departmental, university, and/or community service is expected. The selected candidate will also participate in curricular development initiatives, attend faculty meetings, serve as a mentor as assigned, and serve on other school or campus committees. A competitive salary will be offered, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
