About this role
Uplift Education is a public education organization focused on helping students reach their highest potential. The Academic Data Analyst analyzes internal and external data, develops dashboards and analytical tools, and provides data-use support and training to schools, teachers, and senior leaders. The role also serves as a subject matter expert on data models and processes and recommends data-informed academic and organizational solutions.
What you'll do:
- Evaluate complex information from multiple internal and external sources, synthesize findings into actionable insights, and determine the analytical approach necessary to address stakeholder and organizational needs. Support/train stakeholders on effective use of data systems/tools and interpretation of data from assessments and other data collection tools
- Design and develop interactive dashboards and analytical tools, independently determining appropriate data sources, measures, calculations, visualizations, and presentation methods based on stakeholder and organizational needs
- Develop algorithms to identify students and teachers needing assistance in learning or teaching
- Work in concert with the team in the structuring of data through building tables, views, stored procedures, and SQL queries
- Work with Uplift's Academic Team to evaluate best teaching strategies based on data
- Use data to monitor the results of assessment data and assist stakeholders with analysis of the results and assist with the design, implementation, and measurement of focused intervention
- Participate in planning, needs analysis, and risk assessment; consult with teachers and leaders on how to best support their data use through the effective use of technology
- Keep abreast of all new developments in areas of data analysis and disseminate necessary information to all stakeholders
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned based on organizational needs
What they're looking for:
- Bachelor's Degree - applicable major preferred (Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or a Quantitative Social Science)
- Proven understanding of relational database concepts
- Experience developing process documentation
- Experience in applied statistics and value-added analysis
- Experience in data analysis and problem-solving with large amounts of data
- Candidates should have the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
- Also, candidates should have experience working with artificial intelligence tools such as Gemini, Copilot, etc
- Must be able to read, analyze, and apply common-sense understanding, carry out instructions in written or oral form, and be able to set priorities
- Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, SQL Server Management Studio, Python, Business Intelligence software
- Employee must be able to maintain emotional control under stress
- Occasional prolonged and irregular hours will be necessary
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear
