About this role
A day in the life of an Account Specialist at MetLife Legal Plans:
The Account Specialist administers most aspects of our relationship with existing and new corporate sponsors. This includes internal/external system set-ups, contracts, enrollment files, payments, renewals and communications for groups under 5,000 benefit eligible employees.
Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):
- Support overall business relationship for up to 150 group customers
- Manage new account implementation as required
- Implement 2nd sale strategies to increase enrollment
- Serve as a liaison between the business and strategic partners
- Create effective presentations and proposals
- Conduct meetings and presentations with new and existing partnerships
- Respond to requests for marketing materials
- Responsible for internal/external system set-up relating to account maintenance
- Analyze performance metrics to determine upgrades in plan coverages and rates
- Ensure contracts/renewals received and communicated prior to effective date
- Responsible for creating and negotiating renewal strategies to include plan design and rate structure to support customer growth and retention.
- Ensure receipt of timely and accurate enrollment files and payments
- Partner with the Account Receivable Specialists to manage all aspects of revenue collection
- Cultivate and/or maintain relationships with customer, broker, MetLife and other external partners
- Support the management team with various day-to-day tasks
- Compile and present plan utilization reports to external partners
- Respond to internal/external communications
- Maintain internal CRM system with accurate customer data
- Verify broker of record to support commission payments
- Manage non-traditional business opportunities such as consolidated customer blocks and affinity groups
- Develop and support communication strategies
- Support all aspects of customer open enrollment activities
- Assist new team members with job training
- Attend training sessions to develop new skills
- Occasional travel to attend benefit fairs, stewardship meetings and customer visits
- Will perform all other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, skills, and abilities required):
- Ability to multitask and work with a sense of urgency while maintaining attention to detail
- Detail-oriented and well-organized, with the ability to effectively manage a high-volume workload
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work independently
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written correspondence
- Ability to interact effectively with team members at all levels of the organization
- Ability to interact effectively with external partners and clients over the phone
- Ability to travel as needed for client meetings
What’ll Make You Special (Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities):
- Previous experience in Account Management
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Previous experience with a CRM (Salesforce preferred)
- Knowledge of legal industry or business
- Strong presentation skills
- Understanding of customer relationship management databases
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams & Copilot
Travel: This position may require about 5% travel.

*PTO is prorated during an employee's first year of employment based on their hire date. Employees hired in the first quarter of the year receive 18 days of PTO, those hired in the second quarter receive 16 days, employees hired in the third quarter receive 9 days, and those hired in the fourth quarter receive 7 days. PTO is awarded at the time of hire and then moves to the standard annual accrual schedule beginning January 1 of the following year
