About this role
Westminster Communities of Florida, a nationally recognized not-for-profit church related organization, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their finance and accounting team in Orlando. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization’s financial reporting processes.
What you'll do:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing
- Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of bank statements and accounts
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
- Assist in the preparation of budget-to-actual reports and variance analyses
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards (e.g. GAAP) and relevant regulations (e.g. OIR)
- Support the annual audit process by preparing necessary documentation and liaising with both internal and external auditors
- Utilize accounting software to maintain financial data and generate reports
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all financial systems
- Work closely with managers and supervisors to provide financial guidance and support
- Collaborate with other departments to facilitate effective financial operations
- Works closely with community team members to provide assistance and support
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial operations
What they're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field
- 1-3 years accounting experience
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and practices
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Acumatica, Sage) and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
