Accountant I

The Accountant I supports corporate accounting functions including reconciliations, accruals, regulatory compliance, analysis, system implementations, process improvement projects, and data request responses.

What you'll do:

• This accountant may be involved in various corporate accounting functions including but not limited to accruals, prepaid expenses, general ledger account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations, as required
• Specific duties may be assigned depending on individual’s skillset, desires, and organizational needs
• This person should possess an aptitude for learning and initiating process improvements
• This position is responsible for ensuring transactional compliance with various regulatory guidelines, GAAP, and internal policy and providing information and analysis to support various regulatory filings
• In addition, the accountant may be involved in system implementations, process improvement projects, and preparing data request responses in addition to regular duties

• Bachelor's degree with an accounting major
• Advanced proficiency in Excel
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve accounting problems
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Independently research and make recommendations on how to comply with accounting standards
• Work with other groups in the company to ensure accounting transactions are recorded accurately/efficiently and find solutions to accounting or system issues
• Display initiative and self-reliance with ability to self-prioritize multiple projects and strict deadlines while maintaining high-quality performance under pressure
• Maintain effective internal controls by developing and following procedures and maintaining adequate supporting documentation and audit trails for all aspects of responsibilities
• Utility industry experience
• PeopleSoft, PowerPlan or Workiva experience
