Accountant I

University Medical Center of El Paso is seeking an Accountant I to perform accounting assignments and maintain accurate financial records. The role supports the general ledger, monthly closing process, financial data reporting, and analysis for special reporting while preserving confidential information.

What you'll do:

• The Accountant I performs a variety accounting assignments requiring sound knowledge of accounting theory and analytical functions
• Responsible for accurate, efficient and timely completion of assignments and preserving the privacy of confidential matters
• Maintains integrity of accounts and the viability of the general ledger system
• Assists with the monthly closing process and the development and reporting financial data along with analysis for special reporting

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
• Knowledge of computer and accounting systems
• Ability to apply financial analytical skills
• Ability to apply effective oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work in a Team oriented setting
• Bachelor's degree in accounting required
• Knowledge of accounting and/or budgeting activities in a hospital setting preferred
• One year of experience in accounting preferred
