About this role
The Mississippi Department of Corrections is a professional agency that values integrity, honesty, and openness. They are seeking a first-level Accounting professional responsible for examining and reconciling accounting data while ensuring compliance with accounting practices and agency policies.
What you'll do:
- Examining, accounting for, reconciling, analyzing, and interpreting standard accounting data and records
- Applying basic accounting theory and reviewing fiscal transactions to ensure agency practices are in accordance with general and government accounting practices and principles, and with agency policy and procedure
- Reconciling accounting reports and conducting basic or routine analysis of agency fiscal data

- Must be able to abide by rules and regulations and procedures governing the workplace and ensure the safety security and order of the facility
- Employees at this level are required to be familiar with the knowledge of the procedures and processes applicable to the performance of the work
- Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 0-2 years of experience
