Accounting Clerk

Miller Johnson is hiring an Accounting Clerk to provide entry-level support across its Accounting Department. The role processes recurring transactions and supports cash application, client and matter intake, accounts payable, record maintenance, reconciliations, and reporting.

What you'll do:

• Process routine cash receipt and cash application transactions
• Support client and matter intake through data entry, document review, and record maintenance
• Assist with accounts payable processing, including invoice entry and approved payment requests
• Perform recurring data entry, filing, scanning, and other general Accounting activities
• Review work for accuracy and escalate discrepancies or exceptions as appropriate
• Assist with reconciliations and reporting
• Provide backup coverage for other Accounting team members during peak periods and absences
• Assist with special projects, process initiatives, and other Accounting responsibilities as assigned
• Maintain the confidentiality of client, vendor, employee, and financial information

What they're looking for:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior office, data-entry, bookkeeping, or accounting experience is helpful but not required
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to efficiently complete recurring, high-volume tasks
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Ability to learn accounting systems and follow established procedures
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Clear and professional communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Sound judgment when handling confidential information
• Coursework or an associate degree in accounting, finance, or business is preferred
