About this role

San Bernardino County is recruiting paid Accounting & Finance Student/Graduate Interns to support the Fiscal Divisions within the Real Estate Services and Project and Facilities Management Departments. Interns will gain hands-on experience in public-sector accounting and finance while assisting with accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, reporting, expenditure tracking, data analysis, and other fiscal-related duties.

What you'll do:

  • Interns will assist with a variety of accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, reporting, and other fiscal-related duties
  • Interns will develop practical skills in maintaining and analyzing financial records, budget development, expenditure tracking, data analysis, financial reporting, and governmental financial processes while collaborating with experienced public-sector professionals

What they're looking for:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university and pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related field
  • Must have earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university within the past two (2) years in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Must be currently enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, a master's or doctoral program
  • Employment as a Graduate Student Intern is limited to individuals pursuing an advanced degree in a professional field
  • Students may be hired between academic terms if they intend to continue their studies and can provide proof of upcoming enrollment in a college or university
  • Ensure that your most recent transcripts, degree, or proof of enrollment are uploaded and submitted with your application. Applications missing these documents will not be forwarded to the department for consideration
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment
  • Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment
