Accounting Intern

Herzog Contracting Corp. is seeking an Accounting Intern in St. Joseph, Missouri to support its accounting team with day-to-day financial operations. The role provides hands-on experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.

What you'll do:

• Assist with processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Assist with job cost accounting and tracking project costs against budgets
• Assist with data entry and maintenance of accounting records in the accounting/ERP system
• Support internal and external audit requests by gathering and organizing documentation as needed
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures
• Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position
• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position
• Other duties as assigned

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with accounting or ERP software is a plus
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
• Work primarily in an office environment
• Frequently sits for extended periods of time
• Frequently use a computer keyboard and office related equipment
• Requires occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping or bending
• Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position
• Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position
• Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
