Accounting Intern

American Modern is a specialty insurance provider and subsidiary of Munich Re. The Accounting Intern will support accounting and finance transformation by automating processes, analyzing and reconciling financial data, developing validation scripts, and supporting reporting, analytics, and control-focused solutions.

What you'll do:

• Automate accounting and finance processes using Python and related technologies
• Analyze and reconcile data from financial systems, reports, and general ledger sources
• Develop and test scripts that validate, transform, and standardize financial data
• Support automated reporting, financial analytics, and operational dashboards
• Evaluate AI and automation solutions for finance operations
• Document requirements, process flows, controls, testing results, and improvement opportunities

What they're looking for:

• * Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree at an accredited college or university in Finance, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field
• * Rising Junior or Senior at the time of the internship
• * Available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the summer internship program
• * Able to work in a hybrid environment, including approximately 40-50% of the time in our Amelia, Ohio office
• * Reliable transportation to commute to the office as required
• * Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• * Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• * Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• * Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and contribute to meaningful projects
