Accounting Intern, PE Accounting

LS Power is a premier development, investment, and operating company focused on the North American power and energy infrastructure sector. They are seeking an Intern to support the Private Equity Operations Accounting team, where the candidate will assist with core accounting workflows, reporting tasks, and operational support across multiple entities.

What you'll do:

• Assist with saving and organizing NAV statements and investment documents
• Support weekly booking of cash and credit card transactions across entities
• Help prepare monthly and quarterly workpapers for internal review
• Assist in posting journal entries under supervision
• Support preparation of capital call and distribution files
• Participate in investor communication workflows (capital notices, account statements, K‑1 support)
• Contribute to special projects and process‑improvement initiatives
• Perform data cleanup, document management, and quality checks as assigned

What they're looking for:

• Are pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
• Are organized, detail‑oriented, and eager to learn in a fast‑paced environment
• Demonstrate strong communication and problem‑solving skills
• Are proficient in Excel (basic formulas required; willingness to learn pivot tables & lookups)
• Can handle confidential information with maturity and discretion
• Are curious about the alternative investments and private equity sector
• Familiarity with accounting or finance coursework (introductory level)
• Exposure to or interest in QuickBooks Online or other accounting systems
• Interest in learning tools such as Investran/FIS, JP Morgan Access, CitiBusiness Online
• Interest in AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT) for productivity
• A desire to explore career paths in accounting, private equity, or investment operations
