Accounts Payable Asssociate

D.A. Collins Family of Companies is a construction company serving industrial, infrastructure, highway, and bridge projects. The Accounts Payable Associate processes payments for goods and services, audits invoices for accuracy and compliance, and maintains accounts payable records while supporting financial personnel.

What you'll do:

• Processes check requests, garnishments, and tax payments, ensuring all appropriate approvals have been received
• Reviews invoice to insure sales tax compliance
• Communicates with co-workers, management, clients, and others regarding purchases
• Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
• Prints and obtains signatures on all accounts payable checks
• Distributes signed checks as required
• Responds to all vendor inquiries
• Maintains all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and corporate accounts payable files
• Assists corporate financial officers and branch personnel as necessary
• Prepares cleared checks for storage
• Assists in monthly closings
• Prepares analysis of accounts, as required

• The applicant should display a positive and proactive attitude, be able to prioritize and multitask, and have strong communicative skills
• Ability to multi-task and complete tasks within a deadline in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and computerized accounting systems
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Applicant must pay careful attention to detail and demonstrate strong organizational skills
• Applicant must be able to multitask, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude
• A two-year degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred
• 1-2 years of experience in an accounting environment with specific experience in accounts payable, 2-5 years preferred
• Construction industry experience preferred
• Experience working with New York State sales tax preferred
