About this role
Activision develops, publishes, and distributes interactive entertainment and video games. The User Research Data Analyst Intern will partner with research leads and game development teams to analyze play test telemetry and research data, build visualizations, and translate player behavior data into actionable insights for game development.
What you'll do:
- Partner with User Research study leads and game development teams to turn play test telemetry and research data into actionable insights
- Query, join, validate, and summarize play test datasets using SQL, working across gameplay events and common player, session, match, and study identifiers
- Learn and navigate game telemetry schemas and data structures to identify the appropriate events, fields, and metrics for specific research and design questions
- Build and maintain clear, interactive visualizations and dashboards using JavaScript and Apache ECharts to help researchers and designers explore player behavior, progression, performance, and other study-relevant measures
- Translate questions from designers and study leads into well-defined analyses, conduct ad-hoc investigations, perform data-quality checks, and clearly communicate what the data does and does not support
- Support the integration of behavioral telemetry with survey and other research data, contribute charts and analytical summaries to research reports, and help improve reusable queries, metrics, and visualization workflows for future play tests
- Get on-the-job training and mentoring from industry experts in user research, game analytics, and data visualization while helping the player voice inform game development decisions
