Responsibilities
Founded in 2006, Optumas works primarily with State Medicaid agencies and Medicaid Managed Care Plans, providing guidance and strategy to help them remain efficient and effective purchasers of healthcare Services. Optumas is also on the forefront of healthcare reform initiatives, helping multiple states weigh the opportunities and consequences created by constantly changing healthcare delivery and payment systems.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties
- Work with the CBIZ Optumas team while attending client conference calls, performing various analytical project work, and completing on the job training
- Performing and reviewing analysis of health care data using Excel
- Analysis, data manipulation and summarization of large health care data sets using statistical analysis software (e.g. SAS, WPS, Access and SPSS)
- Balancing multiple projects and effectively managing time to ensure successful completion by deadlines
- Internal communication and presentation of analyses
- Positive attitude toward self, other professionals, clients, and CBIZ Optumas
- Professional in appearance and manner
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
- This position could have the potential to become a direct hire in a full-time position after graduation
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25
- Exposure to data analytical programming (SAS, SQL, WPS, Python)
- Plan to pursue or successful completion of actuarial exams
- Proficient use of applicable software programs, including Microsoft Office suite
- Active participation in student organizations and work experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Well organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Effectively multi-task with planning and efficiency
- Manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignments
- Ability to work in a team environment

- Intern must be working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, finance, statistics or related field
