Position Description
Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach Art Appreciation classes. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis, primarily in an online capacity.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner.
* Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance.
* Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour.
* Maintains a safe, collaborative, and respectful working environment.
* Grades and returns student work in a timely manner.
* Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course.
Utilizes innovative learning strategies to engage learners and support the goals of the course.
Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
Stays abreast of most current teaching methods and technology in the classroom
Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
Attends professional development opportunities when possible
Demonstrates good management and care of college/departmental resources
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
Maintains a respectful and productive classroom environment
Ability to be innovative, creative, and motivated.
Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others.
Ability to maintain records accurately and meet deadlines consistently.
Strong organizational skills.
Knowledge and familiarity with technology and software including, computers, and web-based resources such as Blackboard.
Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential.
Requirements:
Master's degree in Art or Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Art
Two years of post-secondary teaching experience
At least one year of post-secondary teaching experience fully online
Unofficial college transcripts must be uploaded with your application or submitted to the HR office prior to consideration for interview.
Preferences:
Community College teaching experience
Blackboard teaching experience
Online teaching experience
