Position Description
Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of adjunct faculty to teach Health and Fitness Science classes. Openings for these positions may not exist at the present time; however upon review of your qualifications, you may be contacted in the future.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described.
*Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
* Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
* Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
* Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
* Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
* Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
Maintains regular office hours
Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
Attends professional development opportunities when possible
Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationship with students, peers, supervisors and staff
Knowledge of Blackboard, an on line teaching tool
Requirements:
Master's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or related field and experience as a personal trainer or group exercise instructor

CPR certification
Industry recognized personal training and/or group exercise certification
Preferences:
Two years of teaching experience in a related area, preferably in a college or community college setting
Experience as a personal trainer or group fitness instructor
