The Division of Purchasing is responsible for the purchase of products and services needed by state agencies to fulfill their missions in the Executive Branch. 

 This is administrative work requiring independent work decisions for complex clerical functions or processes. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, providing clerical and administrative support to a Section manager and multiple buyers in the Commodities buying team. 

 The successful incumbent must be able to function with a high degree of independence and demonstrate a strong organizational and data management skill set and be proficient in Outlook, Word, and Excel. Familiarity with SAMII and/or MissouriBUYS is preferred.

What you’ll do:

  • Effective communication with state agencies and the public primarily by phone and by email regarding solicitations and contracts.
  • Enters and maintains data in SAMII and/or MissouriBUYS
  • Researches procurement records and documents
  • Establishes and maintains filing systems
  • Prepares records for scanning and/or archiving
  • Serves in rotation as division receptionist
  • Receives general supervision from a designated administrative supervisor, carries out assigned responsibilities independently within established guidelines.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Six or more months of experience in office support work; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
  • Requirements:
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good telephone skills and customer service.

Skill set for position:

  • Computer software knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook;
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly;
  • Work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Great organization skills and
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines.

Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate's name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
