Job Description: Specialist - Software Asset Management Role Overview The Software Asset Management Specialist is responsible for managing the lifecycle of software assets across the organization. This includes ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, optimizing software usage, and supporting procurement and renewal processes. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration across IT, procurement, and business units. Key Responsibilities • Ensure enterprise-wide compliance with software licensing agreements. • Conduct Effective License Position (ELP) analysis using tools like ServiceNow SAM Pro, Flexera, or Snow License Manager. • Identify opportunities for cost savings through software optimization and harvesting. • Manage procurement, renewals, and end-of-life (EOL) planning for software assets. • Maintain accurate records of software entitlements, contracts, and usage data. • Generate and distribute reports on software inventory, usage, and compliance. • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate software asset data. • Act as a liaison between IT, procurement, finance, and business units. • Continuously evaluate and enhance SAM processes for scalability and efficiency. • Implement best practices for software asset governance and cost control. Required Skills & Qualifications • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow SAM Pro, Flexera, or Snow License Manager. • Strong understanding of software licensing models (SaaS, subscription, perpetual). • Familiarity with major vendors like Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Adobe. • Analytical mindset with proficiency in Excel and reporting tools. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. • Typically 5+ years in IT Asset Management or Software Asset Management roles. Certifications (Preferred) • ITIL • CSAM (Certified Software Asset Manager) • IAITAM certifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field.
