About this role

Job Summary - Why you’ll love this position

Does being in the heart of state government activity sound exciting?

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Agency Senior Budget Analyst to join our fast-paced team. In this pivotal role, you will gain unparalleled exposure to the ins and outs of state government budgeting and the legislative process. You will collaborate with partners across state agencies, work on multiple House Bills, and provide the data-driven insights that guide the Division of Facilities Management, Design and Construction (FMDC).

If you thrive in an environment where your financial expertise directly impacts organizational strategy and policy, this is the opportunity for you. Step into a role where your analytical skills will shape the future of state operations.

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate.  If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck.  A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

  • Budget Strategy & Execution: Analyze division budget requests, provide technical guidance, and recommend performance measures. Make critical entries and run reports utilizing the MOVERS budgeting system.
  • Legislative Analysis: Evaluate legislation and prepare fiscal notes to determine the financial impact on the division. Assemble fiscal data for use in programmatic evaluations for House Bill 5 and House Bill 13.
  • Financial Tracking & Reconciliation: Track progress across the assigned division's budget. Maintain complex Excel spreadsheets to balance every step of the budget cycle and ensure all monthly reports flawlessly reconcile with the SAM II financial system.
  • Reporting & Data Management: Generate, maintain, and analyze a variety of budget and expenditure tracking reports using SAM II, Excel, and Access. Prepare and monitor coding sheets for payment documents.
  • Research & Advisory: Research complex topics and perform analysis on historic and current issues. Prepare ad hoc research reports and present actionable recommendations and solutions to FMDC management.
  • Leadership Support: Act as a vital contributor to FMDC budget preparation, providing essential assistance and backup for management as required.

Qualifications - All you need for success

  • Analytical Excellence: Ability to collect, classify, analyze, and interpret complex numerical data into comprehensive, actionable reports.
  • Precision: Uncompromising accuracy and attention to detail in all financial tracking and documentation.
  • Initiative: A high degree of professional judgment and proactive problem-solving skills to navigate important budget and policy matters.

Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.

Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate's name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.

Authorization to work in the United States is a prerequisite of employment. The Office of Administration will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
