About this role
Loenbro is a construction lifecycle partner providing services across critical infrastructure and business operations. The company is seeking an AI Engineer to build, deploy, and improve AI-powered tools and workflows that increase operational efficiency, collaborate with stakeholders to identify automation opportunities, and support the evolution toward integrated AI systems.
What you'll do:
- Design, build, and deploy lightweight AI-powered tools and applications to improve operational efficiency across construction and business functions
- Partner with field teams, operations, and business stakeholders to identify manual, repetitive, or high-friction processes and translate them into AI-driven solutions
- Develop and iterate on prompt engineering strategies to ensure consistent, accurate, and useful outputs from large language models (LLMs)
- Prototype and test AI workflows using tools such as LLM APIs, automation platforms (e.g., Zapier, Make, Power Automate), and custom scripts
- Build self-contained AI solutions (e.g., chatbots, internal assistants, workflow automations) that deliver immediate value without heavy system dependencies
- Integrate AI tools with internal and third-party systems using APIs to enable scalable and connected workflows
- Create dashboards, interfaces, or simple applications that allow non-technical users to easily interact with AI-driven solutions
- Monitor, evaluate, and improve AI tool performance, including output accuracy, reliability, and user adoption
- Implement guardrails and validation processes to mitigate hallucinations, ensure data integrity, and support responsible AI usage
- Document workflows, tools, and processes to support scalability, maintainability, and team adoption
- Stay current on emerging AI tools, platforms, and best practices; proactively recommend new technologies or approaches to the business
- Support the evolution from standalone AI tools toward more integrated systems, contributing to long-term AI architecture and strategy
What they're looking for:
- Candidates must have unrestricted work authorization. The company does not currently offer visa sponsorship for this role
- • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field
- • 2+ years of exposure to data-related work — whether through analytics, business intelligence, data entry systems, reporting, or supporting data-driven teams
- • 1+ year of active, hands-on experience working with AI tools, platforms, or APIs in a professional or personal capacity
- • Working experience with Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and/or Google Gemini
- • Occasional support for field teams and job sites
- • Travel requirements: minimal
- • A portfolio of AI projects is strongly preferred — show us what you've built: a workflow, an app, a chatbot, a prompt system, anything that demonstrates initiative and results
- • Solid prompt engineering skills — you understand how to structure prompts, iterate, and get reliable outputs
- • Experience building AI-powered tools or lightweight applications using LLM APIs (Claude API, OpenAI API, or similar)
- • Exposure to workflow automation platforms such as Make, n8n, Zapier, or Microsoft Power Automate
- • Familiarity with no-code/low-code AI tools and the judgment to know when to use them vs. write custom code
Benefits:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) retirement plan with company match
- Paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay
- Life and disability insurance
- Professional development and training opportunities
- Employee assistance program (EAP)
- Hybrid office-based with flexibility for remote work as approved
