CMC is a Fortune 500 company at the leading edge of the steel and construction reinforcement industries. The AI Intern role offers hands-on experience in identifying business processes that can be enhanced through AI and analytics while providing mentorship and exposure to multiple departments.
What you'll do:
- Identify business processes that may benefit from AI, analytics, workflow improvement, or automation support
- Document current workflows, including process steps, data inputs, handoffs, pain points, manual work, and improvement opportunities
- Support adoption and effective use of Microsoft Copilot and other approved AI tools
- Develop, test, and refine reusable prompts, templates, workflow guides, and quick-reference materials
- Analyze business, operational, or commercial data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and improvement areas
- Build or support reports, dashboards, trackers, and visualizations using Excel, Power BI, or other approved tools
- Assist in designing, documenting, testing, and supporting automated workflows
- Evaluate repetitive administrative, reporting, communication, and follow-up processes for possible automation
- Support data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks for reports, dashboards, and AI-generated outputs
- Help translate business questions into clear requirements, analysis steps, workflow documentation, or practical recommendations
- Partner with Commercial, Operations, Finance, IT, HR, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and summarize findings
- Follow company policies for data security, confidentiality, responsible AI use, and human review of AI-generated outputs
What they're looking for:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly, ask good questions, and work independently with appropriate guidance
- Ability to translate business problems into structured requirements, analysis questions, workflow documentation, or improvement opportunities
- Strong attention to detail, especially around data accuracy, documentation quality, and validation of outputs
- Interest in AI, analytics, automation, process improvement, and practical business problem solving
- Willingness to follow company policies for data security, confidentiality, responsible AI use, and review of AI-generated outputs
- Currently pursuing a degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Business, or a related field
- Exposure to Microsoft Copilot, generative AI tools, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted productivity workflows
- Working knowledge of one or more of the following: Excel analytics, Power BI, SQL, Python, data visualization, workflow automation, business process analysis, or reporting tools
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, or Power Automate
