AI Intern - Summer 2027

Flywheel Energy is a private exploration and production company focused on rapid, responsible growth and reliable energy. The AI Intern will identify and prototype artificial intelligence solutions across departments, develop large language model and machine learning applications, and partner with business users to integrate, measure, and improve these tools.

What you'll do:

• Identify, scope, and prototype AI use cases across departments, including document processing, workflow automation, and decision support
• Build and evaluate solutions using large language models, including skill development, agentic workflows, and MCP server integrations with company data and tools
• Develop and test machine learning models on operational and financial data, such as production forecasting and predictive maintenance
• Partner with business users to embed AI into daily workflows, measure adoption and impact, and iterate quickly
• Help establish responsible AI practices, including cost management, knowledge base curation, and data security considerations
• Train and support teammates as new AI tools roll out across the company

• Are currently pursuing degrees in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, statistics, or other applicable majors and have graduation dates of December 2027 or later
