About this role

Amazon is seeking exceptional talent to help develop the next generation of advanced robotics systems that will transform automation at Amazon's scale. The role involves contributing to research that bridges the gap between theoretical advancement and practical implementation in robotics, focusing on innovative applications of deep learning and large language models.

What you'll do:

  • Enables unprecedented generalization across diverse tasks
  • Enables contact-rich manipulation in different environments
  • Seamlessly integrates mobility and manipulation
  • Leverage mechanical intelligence, multi-modal sensor feedback and advanced control techniques

What they're looking for:

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
  • Must be eligible for and available for full-time (40 hours per week) internship in person based out of the assigned office location for the whole duration of the internship/co-op
  • At least 1 year of relevant academic research or industry experience within Robotics, Manipulation, Dexterous Manipulation, Locomotion, Human-Robot Interaction, Controls, Mechanical Design, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Optimization, Perception, Motion Planning, Autonomous Navigation, Software (high-level and embedded) for robotic systems, or related
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related
  • Publication(s) at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
  • Ability to develop system prototypes
  • Demonstrated ability to work on collaborative and cross-functional teams
  • Drive to see a project through from research concept to working prototype
  • Strong algorithm development experience
  • A working knowledge of analysis of algorithms and computational complexity
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art algorithms in field of expertise
