What you'll do:

  • Review assigned transaction monitoring alerts, internal or external referrals, and other FIU work items in accordance with established procedures and timelines
  • Review transactional activity, customer profiles, account history, prior investigations and filings, and relevant internal and external research to identify potential financial crime risk indicators and unusual patterns
  • Prepare clear, complete, and accurate review documentation and case narratives that summarize activity reviewed, research performed, findings, and rationale
  • Recommend alert or case dispositions based on available information and established guidance and promptly escalate potential suspicious activity or other matters requiring additional review
  • Manage assigned work items and priorities to meet review deadlines and quality expectations
  • Collaborate with FIU colleagues and seek guidance from experienced investigators or FIU leadership when questions or complex matters arise
  • Identify and communicate observed trends, recurring issues, and potential process concerns to FIU management
  • Develop knowledge of AML/BSA regulatory requirements, financial crime risks, enforcement trends, and relevant typologies through training and practical experience
  • Assist with special projects and other FIU priorities, as assigned

What they're looking for:

  • Ability to review transactional and customer information, recognize relevant risk indicators or unusual patterns, and document findings clearly
  • Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to manage a deadline-driven workload while following established procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or related software
  • Analytical, organizational, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to summarize research and findings in a concise, organized manner
  • Ability to follow procedures, work collaboratively, manage assigned tasks, and seek guidance when needed
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Criminal Justice, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field; or equivalent education and work experience
  • Entry-level position; prior professional experience in financial crimes compliance or investigations is not required
  • No prior AML/BSA, financial crime, transaction monitoring, or investigative experience is required; role-specific knowledge will be provided through training
  • Interest in learning about banking operations, payment services, fintech partnerships, and the broader financial services ecosystem
  • Interest in developing knowledge of financial services industry risks, fraud and money laundering typologies, applicable regulations, fintech partnerships, and payment systems

Benefits:

  • Fully remote in 24 select states or hybrid for those located in the NYC Metro area.
