Responsible for the engineering and technical operations of the organization, managing or performing scientific research. Conducts chemical and physical laboratory tests using instrumental techniques in making qualitative and quantitative analyses.%26nbsp;%3Cbr%3E%3Cbr%3EThe primary responsibilities of this Analytical Chemistry position will be to prepare biological samples by performing simple chemical derivations and analyze samples by mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance. The position reports to a faculty member in the Center for Human Nutrition, UT SW Medical Center (Dallas, TX), and will work with a team of senior members of the group. This lab studies the regulation of metabolism and its role in disease. Job Duties Performs sample preparation, such as tissue extractions and chemical derivatizations. Prepares samples for analysis by MS and NMR. Obtains LC/MS, GC/MS and NMR data using existing protocols and helps to validate new protocols. Performs data analysis and evaluates metabolite tracer labeling.
