About this Position

The mission of the Langston University Animal Science program is to conduct research, develop, and transfer technologies to various animal species, including goats, hair sheep, cattle, and other species. The program encompasses the American Institute for Goat Research (AIGR), which fulfills its mission through excellence in a results-driven, highly productive research program, an effective, client-oriented community-based extension approach, and dynamic international activities that emphasize business development and human capacity building.

Cutting-edge research focuses on providing novel information that is relevant and applicable to producers, researchers, and consumers. The goal of the animal research and Extension programs is to enhance information exchange and producer skill levels through hands-on workshops, field days, and web-based information and interactive components. SL/SAAS is committed to excellence in research, extension, teaching, and international programs in accordance with the Land-Grant mission of Langston University.

The successful candidate will be an integral member of the research and extension programs. They will serve in the extension and research programs and conduct applied research with a primary focus on unique aspects of goats, hair sheep, cattle, poultry, or other animal species. The candidate will be expected to maintain contact with industry leaders and conduct workshops in various areas of animal production and management. They will collaborate with other scientists on research of interest. Potential teaching assignments in their area of specialization will be available periodically.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Animal Science or closely related animal science discipline. 

(degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

    • Demonstrated interest in animal production and management.
    • The candidate should be able to write producer-oriented manuscripts for the Internet, popular press articles, and materials for broad distribution.
    • The capacity to work cooperatively with others is very important.
