AQUATIC PROGRAM, SUPERVISOR - Resource Connection

The Aquatic and Program Supervisor will be responsible for assisting with the daily functions of the Resource Connection providing an Aquatic Program that encourages a safe and enjoyable environment, therapeutic exercise, sports and fitness. Serve as supervisor, providing overall leadership and direction for the Aquatics Center in accordance with the Resource Connection philosophy and policy. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, managing the daily operations of the facility; overseeing the procedures necessary to open, operate and close the Aquatics Center; supervising the lifeguards and aquatic program staff; developing and documenting programs and curriculum; and maintaining the cleanliness of pool facilities.  Incumbent is also responsible for ensuring the proper operation of the Aquatic Center and Wellness Connection including monitoring department inventory and chemicals, coordinating activities for special populations, conducting Wellness Center orientation, and maintaining the appropriate Wellness Center records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Recruits, interviews and recommends new aquatics staff for employment. Conducts training programs, evaluates performance, supervises and schedules work. Coordinates and/or conducts refresher training in CPR, prevention and management of aggressive behavior and first aid
• Supervises Aquatics Center activities. Plans and implements a variety of programs and activities to enhance therapeutic and recreational water exercise, ensuring the appropriate number of lifeguards for the program.  Designs programs and curriculum for individuals with mental retardation, mental health handicaps and physical disabilities
• Supervises the maintenance and cleanliness of the Aquatics Center.  Maintains the facility in compliance with city, County and state health department regulations. Maintains all equipment and common areas regarding the aquatics facility. Maintains proper chemical balance, pump and filter operation, work with Facility Management staff regarding any maintenance or custodial concerns. Monitors equipment inventory for control and maintenance. Keep daily supplies on hand and available chemicals for proper pool balance. Recommends appropriate building changes or additions. Recommends new or replacement equipment as needed to operate and service the aquatics center
• Ensures the safety of all patrons through training, supervision and monitoring. Ensures compliance with appropriate policies, rules and regulations. Stays current professional by reading materials, attending conferences, classes and etc.
• 5.Responsible for scheduling    use of the aquatics center and/or aquatics programming. Responsible for an effective public relations program regarding fitness and aquatic center activities, marketing pool to various “communities” to maximize use of the center
• Maintains all appropriate records/logs for the aquatics and wellness centers. Completes all state, county reports, evaluations and other reports necessary
• Provides orientation to Wellness Center equipment, rules and regulations. Lifeguard and teach classes for aquatic program
• Performs all other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written. 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
• Must be able to stay organized and know how to prioritize the workload. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
• Competency with computers and Microsoft Office 365 Suite. 
• Advanced analytical skills.   
• Experience working with diverse populations, especially individuals with disabilities, is desirable.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in physical education or related field or equivalent experience. 
• Two (2) years of experience in aquatic programs with one (1) year of supervisory experience.
• Lifeguard Certified, Water Safety Instructor Certified, CPR Certified, First Aid Certified, Certified Pool Operator (or able to obtain within the first six-months of employment).
• WSI Certification, Lifeguard Certified, CPR Certified, First Aid Certified, CPO and Arthritic Aquatics Instructor Certification obtained in the first year of employment;

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience working with diverse populations, especially individuals with disabilities, is desirable.
• Aquatic Aerobic Instructor Certification a plus. 

Physical Demands and Work Environment & Other Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to walk, swim, bend, squat, jump, lift and provide CPR/AED in emergency situations.
