Leads organization-wide platform strategy for core services and SDKs; solutions shape how multiple groups integrate, deploy, and operate at scale. Solves highly complex, unique reliability and performance challenges; decisions have long-term impact on product lines and consumers. Governs platform standards for interoperability, compliance, and resilience, and drives adoption through exemplary artifacts and tooling. Influences policies and practices across the organization; represents platform direction to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Platform Software Development:

  • Define organization-wide platform strategy for core shared services and SDKs, shaping integration and operations patterns.

  • Resolve unique, high-scale reliability and performance challenges; codify enterprise compatibility policies.

  • Govern adoption of platform standards through tooling, reference stacks, and compliance mechanisms.

Software Development and Coding - Design, Testing, and Optimization:

  • Steers strategic decision-making processes to design software solutions and identify and analyze requirements.

  • Writes and defines foundational code for new projects or prototypes.

  • Adheres to and improves execution of all phases of the software development lifecycle; coaches and defines best practices across teams or units to drive improvements.

  • Acts as a thought leader within the organization to drive the development of new software features and enhancements following design specifications, ensuring accessibility, and develops documents to clarify software design and code.

  • Leads and drives improvements in process, architecture, and code reviews across products/services to drive improvements.

  • Utilizes strategy and innovation to conduct debugging and troubleshooting to identify and fix highly complex and/or ambiguous software issues.

  • Utilizes a proactive and visionary approach to define and influence all levels of software testing (e.g., functional and non-functional), quality assurance processes, observability for effective debugging, and proof of concepting and feasibility.

  • Innovates methods to conduct performance profiling and optimization of product(s) and/or service(s).

  • Resolves or re-architects highly complex and systematic issues requiring strategy and innovation related to application programming interface (API) functionality and integration.

  • Executes advanced solutions to implement API versioning, lifecycle, and interoperability strategies.

Software Architecture - Software System Structural Design:

  • Influences and supports the design and development of software, systems, and services.

  • Defines project or design scope; reviews, influences, and approves scope and design recommendations.

  • Serves as a trusted advisor to provide technical guidance, domain expertise, and coaching in software architecture decisions and best practices, including evolving industry standards and competitive considerations, interfacing with all levels and teams, guiding organizational and line of business/functional transformations.

  • Utilizes innovation and strategy to conduct highly complex periodic reviews and ensures adherence to architectural standards.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams and leadership to align and build software architecture with business and/or customer goals and priorities.

  • Implements modern/emerging performance optimization and scalability strategies in software design.

  • Conducts regular technology research and evaluation for architectural enhancements and translates into decisions and plans that have a long-term impact on the organization.

Issue/Defect Collaboration - Software Products Support:

  • Collaborates cross-functionally with stakeholders to orchestrate efforts to understand customer issues, root causes, and mitigation to align and explain rationale behind solutions.

  • Provides modern/emerging technical guidance and support to customers regarding customer-reported issues.

  • Acts as an expert advisor to advocate for customers' interests and proactively suggests product enhancements and solutions based on a synthesis of feedback and insights from internal data and tools.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to ensure customer satisfaction through timely resolution of issues and effective communication.

  • Develops strategic and innovative solutions for customer issue and/or defect handling and training processes.

  • Recommends systematic/architectural solutions to the most complex and broadly reaching product maintenance issues to ensure customer agreement on short- and long-term solutions.

Practices and Standards Compliance - Security and Compliance:

  • Collaborates with the security team and across business lines to establish, follow, and improve upon development practices and coding standards, providing coaching to less experienced team members.

  • Participates in peer review processes, provides technical leadership, and steers strategic decision-making to ensure quality and adherence to broad acceptance criteria during development.

  • Demonstrates, contributes to, and shares comprehensive expertise of industry best practices in multiple specialty areas and their application to software development processes.

  • Implements highly complex secure software development practices/solutions to resolve and prevent security vulnerabilities and address ambiguous problems, leveraging automated solutions to augment the manual review process.

Development Operations - System Maintenance:

  • Steers strategic decision-making processes for performing periodic maintenance and testing operations for systems that require upgrading or patching (e.g., for critical vulnerabilities).

  • Acts as thought leader to drive improvements, ensures automation, testing, and debugging of systems to ensure service/product availability, health, support, and reliability.

  • Oversees timelines, deliverables, and budgets where applicable for projects or initiatives in the line of business that achieve critical business objectives, ensuring milestones are completed efficiently and in alignment with requirements. Sets priorities at an organizational level and adjusts as needed to accommodate resource or timeline changes, aligned with business needs.

Collaboration & Partnership:

  • Drives collaboration across multiple lines of business and external stakeholders to influence alignment on expectations, strategic objectives, and proposed solutions. Cultivates strategic partnerships with senior business leaders, stakeholders, and/or customers, pursuing opportunities for expanding partnerships and ensuring long-term organizational success. Promotes a culture of transparency and inclusivity where all voices are valued and respected.

Problem Solving:

  • Serves as a technical expert and resource across the line of business to resolve high-impact, ambiguous, or novel issues using advanced methodologies and techniques. Drives strategic problem-solving initiatives, leveraging information and/or data from wide-ranging sources to ensure efficient resolution and prevent recurrence.

Continuous Learning:

  • Leverages deep expertise of the industry and multiple areas to serve as a thought leader within Oracle and to mentor other leaders and experts. Contributes to the advancement of the field or industry through thought leadership (e.g., conference presentations, white papers, research contributions). Continuously builds expertise by anticipating future trends, technologies, and industry standards to develop best practices and strategic goals that position the line of business as an industry leader. Develops and implements strategies for continuous learning and knowledge sharing, fostering an environment where learning is prioritized.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Leads and influences the design of innovative and high-impact processes and approaches to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness across the line of business. Fosters a culture of idea generation and seeking feedback on solutions across departments and functions for continued improvement.

Performance and Development:

  • Provides thought leadership regarding organizational talent strategy, collaborating with executive leadership and HR to anticipate talent needs based on industry forecast. Imparts strategic guidance to shape the talent development pipeline.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $157,500 to $355,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.


Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
