Assistant/Associate/ Research Professor of Medicine

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Medicine strives for excellence in research, education, and patient care. The division’s physicians, staff members, and learners work to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease for Hoosiers, offering the highest quality care and fostering innovation that fuels better health for the people of Indiana and beyond. The division has multiple research laboratories, programs, and clinical trials conducting studies in various aspects of cardiovascular diseases. In addition, there are ACGME-approved cardiology training programs in cardiovascular diseases, cardiovascular electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, heart failure, and adult congenital heart disease.

This position will utilize a broad range of cardiovascular experimental approaches, including advanced rodent CV physiology models and molecular biology techniques. This combination of physiologic, surgical, molecular, and translational expertise represents an important capability that will strengthen cardiovascular research within the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine.

This will directly contribute to the IU School of Medicine Strategic Plan of accelerating discovery and clinical translation. This role will partner with faculty to help develop and execute rigorous cardiovascular phenotyping and preclinical studies. Depending on the needs of individual projects, this could include consultation on experimental design and model selection; development and implementation of cardiovascular disease models; advanced echocardiographic and hemodynamic phenotyping; cardiovascular surgical models; ex vivo physiology; tissue and molecular analyses; and integration of physiologic models with genomic and multi-omic approaches.
