About this role

Assistant Attorney General
Criminal Appeals Section ~ Jefferson City

The Missouri Attorney General's Office is actively seeking attorneys with excellent credentials for an Assistant Attorney General position in the Criminal Appeals Section in Jefferson City.

The Criminal Appeals section represents the State in all felony appeals and felony post-conviction appeals. The section also handles a small number of interlocutory appeals and appeals from sexually violent predator adjudications. With attorneys frequently appearing in Missouri's appellate courts, the Criminal Appeals section handles a substantial workload, often managing over 700 appeals each year. The mission of Criminal Appeals is not merely to uphold every conviction, but to ensure that criminal convictions can ultimately be viewed with confidence. To that end, attorneys approach each case with an eye toward ensuring both that justice has been done and that the rights of the accused have been adequately protected.

The position may involve intermittent daytime or overnight travel within Missouri.
