Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President of Langone Academy and Workplace Culture & Inclusion, the Assistant Director, Research & Learning Innovation is an important member of the
Langone Academy team. This role advances the Academy's commitment to evidence-based practice, scholarly inquiry, and innovation in learning The Assistant Director is responsible for leading educational and organizational research, program evaluation, and innovation efforts that strengthen learning, organizational effectiveness, and enterprise
education across NYU Langone Health. The role combines program support and strategy with hands-on data analysis, research design, innovation pilots, and facilitation for leaders, faculty, and staff.
This role also supervises the Specialist, Survey Design & Analytics.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Evidence-Based Program Design 

  • Lead the design and continuous improvement of learning programs grounded in data, research, and best practices in learning and organizational science.
  • Partner with Academy and institutional leaders to define program goals, success metrics, and evaluation plans aligned with organizational priorities and talent strategies.
  • Identify and advance opportunities to enhance learning through innovative approaches, including experiential learning projects, reflective practice frameworks, and longitudinal learning journeys.
  • Use data, research, and participant feedback to shape recommendations related to program design, sequencing, delivery formats, and learner engagement.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and assessment of pilot initiatives and new learning solutions to improve impact, accessibility, and effectiveness.

Research, Data & Publishing

  • Lead or co-lead applied research and evaluation studies on learning, organizational effectiveness, and educational innovation.
  • Develop research questions, study designs, and protocols, and oversee or support IRB submissions as needed.
  • Establish and apply data and evidence frameworks to assess program effectiveness and inform strategic decision- making.
  • Analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings for internal reports, executive summaries, strategic recommendations, and external dissemination.
  • Lead the preparation of manuscripts, conference abstracts, posters, and presentations that showcase Langone Academy?s and Workplace Culture & Inclusion?s impact in peer-reviewed and professional forums.

Team Leadership & Survey Analytics Oversight 

  • Supervise the Specialist, Survey Design & Analytics, providing direction, coaching, and oversight for survey design, administration, analysis, and reporting.

Facilitation, Consultation & Knowledge Sharing

  • Translate research findings and data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for diverse audiences, including senior leaders, faculty, and staff.
  • Share findings and recommendations in committees, meetings, and Academy events.
  • Facilitate workshops, strategy sessions, and learning discussions related to program evaluation, evidence-based practice, and innovation.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and evidence-based learning across Academy offerings and organizational initiatives.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Master's degree in education, organizational development, industrial/organizational psychology, data analytics, public health, social science, health professions education, or a related field. 7+ years of experience in educational or organizational research, program evaluation, data-informed program improvement, or a related area, preferably in a health system, academic medical center, or similarly complex organization. Demonstrated experience leading the design and evaluation of learning programs or organizational effectiveness initiatives, including pilot and innovative efforts. Experience supervising staff, projects, or cross-functional initiatives. Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools, including Excel and at least one of the following: SQL, R, Python, or SPSS; experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms preferred. Evidence of scholarly or professional dissemination, such as publications, conference presentations, posters, or comparable applied research outputs. Experience designing and facilitating workshops, training sessions, or group learning experiences for professional audiences. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, PsyD, or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
Experience in health professions education, organizational development in a clinical setting, or large-scale learning initiatives.
Experience contributing to peer-reviewed publications or national conference presentations related to learning, organizational learning, or health professions education.
Experience supporting innovative learning or culture initiatives that leverage new tools, methods, or technologies.
Experience designing and facilitating workshops, sessions, and discussions for leaders, faculty, and staff.
