About this role
The School of Medicine seeks a faculty member for appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor, non-tenure track, in the Department of Anatomy. Responsibilities will include teaching and leadership in Anatomy courses for students in graduate, MD, physician assistant, and undergraduate curricula. The faculty member will serve as a member of the Graduate Executive Committee and in other administrative roles in the department as needed. It is estimated that teaching will account for 60-90% of faculty effort. The position is hired in the non-tenure track, but the university allows faculty to transfer to the tenure track. In the School of Medicine, this is usually based on scholarly research.
Expected qualifications include a PhD in Anatomy or a related field with experience teaching dissection-based gross anatomy and related disciplines at the graduate/professional level. Evidence of teaching effectiveness and innovation is strongly preferred. Applicants conducting research in anatomical sciences or medical education are especially encouraged to apply. Appointment at the Associate Professor level typically requires at least 6 years of experience at the Assistant Professor level or equivalent rank.
In compliance with the City of Cleveland’s Pay Transparency Ordinance (effective October 27, 2025), the annual starting base salary range for this position is from $70,000-$139,000 (Assistant Professor) and $110,000-$182,000 (Associate Professor) CWRU considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
