The Department of Computer Science at the Florida State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin in August 2027. This position is 9-month, full-time, and benefits eligible. We seek strong candidates in the theory, applications, or systems of AI and Data Science. We will also consider outstanding candidates in related areas. Outstanding applicants in other areas will also be considered. Responsibilities will include teaching, research, and service activities.

Applicants should hold a Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of Computer Science or closely related field and have a demonstrated record of scholarly accomplishments.

The department currently has 31 tenure-track and 7 specialized faculty members and offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees, including an AI Concentration, a new MS in CyberAI, and a new BS in AI. The department is an NSA/DHS Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE/CDE) and Research (CAE-R). FSU is classified as a Carnegie R1: Doctoral Universities – Very High Research Activity and is ranked No. 17 among public universities in TIME’S America’s Best Colleges list. Its primary role is to serve as a center for advanced graduate and professional studies, with an emphasis on research and excellence in undergraduate education.
