Job Description:

The Department of Neuroscience in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2027. We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality research in Behavioral Neuroscience. We are particularly interested in scholars whose research interests will deepen course offerings within the Department of Neuroscience and will be capable of building collaborations within the department and/or across the University (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, Psychology).

The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally supported program of research, engage in research training within our Ph.D. program, and teach courses to our robust major of over 100 undergraduate students. Candidates should be strongly committed to excellence in both teaching and scholarly research.

The annual salary range is $100,000-111,000. Applicants should have a Ph.D. (or an anticipated Ph.D. completion by August 2027). Review of applications will begin July 15, 2026 and will continue until the position is filled, subject to on-going budgetary approval.
