About this role

Thrivent is a financial services organization offering a summer internship program that provides college students with meaningful experience across business functions. The Associate Investment Operations Analyst Intern will support investment operations and the trade lifecycle through trade support, reconciliations, corporate actions, reporting, data analysis, process improvement, and compliance activities.

What you'll do:

  • Provide operational support for equity, fixed income, derivatives, private equity, and investment strategy transactions, ensuring accurate trade verification, affirmation, and settlement
  • Reconcile trades, positions, and cash balances across multiple asset classes; monitor and escalate discrepancies or breaks as needed
  • Maintain accurate investment data in internal systems and portfolio accounting platforms; support updates driven by operational processes
  • Process corporate actions, income collections, variation margins, collateral, and settlements; ensure proper handling and reconciliation
  • Communicate time-sensitive information to portfolio managers, traders, brokers, custodians, fund accountants, and internal stakeholders
  • Liaise with external partners including brokers, custodians, and vendors to maintain strong working relationships and resolve issues
  • Participate in onboarding new accounts and custodial setups; contribute to process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support system enhancements, automation efforts, and cross-functional projects to streamline operations and improve efficiency
  • Generate and distribute investment-related reports and operational dashboards
  • Assist in preparing documentation for audits and internal reviews
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, compliance policies, and investment guidelines

What they're looking for:

  • Current Junior (Dec. 2027 or May 2028 graduation date) working towards an undergraduate degree in Finance or Economics
  • Excellent academic track record (GPA 3.0+)
  • Customer focus and team orientation
  • Attention to detail
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work full time during the summer
  • Ability to work in the United States for indefinite period without sponsorship
